Quail Production Systems, Prospects and Constraints in Ghana

This study was undertaken to assess the production systems, prospects and challenges of quail farming in three (3) ecological zones (Rainforest, Transitional Guinea Savannah) Ghana. Sixty (60) farmers were purposefully sampled for using snowball sampling technique. Data gathered through interviews with aid structured questionnaire analysed SPSS 22.0. The results showed that more males (86.7%) than females (13.3%) involved Ghana majority (73.3%) having less five years experience business. About 50% had their flock sizes ranging from 501 2000 birds. Three major breeds quails (Japanese, American Jumbo Giant quails) are reared but most common breed is Japanese due its prolificacy ability tolerate intensive colony battery cage management system commercial egg production. Quail prevalent Southern Northern Savannah zone.
